To Enter Toshiba's Bios

For you to enter the Bios Settings of your Toshiba Notebook, follow these instructions.

1. Restart computer
2. When you see Toshiba logo, press ESC.
3. It will ask you to press F1, do so
4. You are at the BIOS screen successfully, congratulations!
Exiting from the BIOS, press END on your keyboard.

Toshiba Satellite Disassembly

I had a rough time disassembling Toshiba Satellite A200 with the link I created with this post. When I checked this site, I'd say, this is incomplete! And decided to create a post so I have a reference in the future (but that will come later since I have to deal with the Toshiba). The problem of the laptop I'm working with is it's VGA port is not working. When an external monitor is connected to it, you cannot see anything on the other monitor. Even if you set the correct settings. So I decided to open it and perhaps reseat the cables. And so I did. I had a rough time since when I'm checking the net, there are no how to's for removing the keyboard, then the keyboard bezel and everything inside. Accidentally I removed the bezel, and everything falls into proper place. This is chicken and so I thought. I reseat the cables of the VGA port, and it is not part of the mobo so if this is broken, we can replace. To my dismay when the computer is running again, the VGA is still not working. When I finally checked the site, there are pages 2-4 to look at, adding to my dismay. I was figuring out what to do next when I haven't seen those pages when in fact they are there to give support. To you man who posted the troubleshooting steps, thank you so much.

TOSHIBA HDD RECOVERY UTILITY

Note: Not all Toshiba laptops has their own installed utility like this, always check the manual of the computer if it has this option.
Before doing the presented operation, it is wise for you to back up your files because doing the succeeding steps will format your hdd to original or factory settings.

1. Hold down the zero button then press the power button to turn it off.
2. Not lifting the zero button, turn the pc until you see the Toshiba logo, then the pc will load the HDD Recovery Utility. Sometimes, you need to tap the zero button when you see the Toshiba logo.
3. It will display "Please select the recovery method"
a. RECOVERY TO THE PURCHASED DATE - means you recover the hdd to factory defaults. Most often it is selected.
b. RECOVERY WITHOUT CHANGING THE PARTITION SIZE - means the C: drive will be deleted while other partitions will not be touched.
c. RECOVERY WITH SPECIFICATION ON THE PARTITION SIZE - means all the drives will be deleted. Then you can set the size of the C: drive later on the wizard.
From a-c, press Y (yes) for confirmation.
3a is the option to use to recover the pc to factory settings.

USING RECOVERY FROM HDD

Buying computer nowadays has a separate partition in the HDD for you to use if something happens to your operating system (xp or vista) and it’s pretty easy to access. No need for the original operating system CD to use once you access this. The only disadvantage is if this partition in the HDD was corrupted; you need to use the original CDS to reinstall the operating system again. Make sure to back up your files before doing these steps so you won’t lose any precious information from your computer.

DELL COMPUTERS:
Press CTRL + F11 (XP) to get into DELL PC RESTORE or DELL FACTORY IMAGE RESTORE
1. Select Restore
2. Press Confirm for data deletion and HDD will be formatted to factory settings
3. Finish then restart
For Vista, simply pressing F8 during the Dell logo screen, select Repair your computer, select the username and password, select Dell Fartory Image.

HP COMPUTERS:
Press F11, you get 3 choices for PC RECOVERY
1. R for recovery console
2. F for formatting of the HDD into the original or factory settings, all data will be lost
3. Q for Quit

TOSHIBA COMPUTERS:
Press 0 (zero) then turn the pc off, turn it back on still pressing it down firmly.
When you see the Toshiba logo, start tapping 0 (zero) until you hear the beeping sound.
Then the "HDD RECOVERY MODE" will be displayed, then it will load the Toshiba recovery program.
