How to uninstall YM when error "could not open install.log file" is showing?

Problem 1: I can't uninstall yahoo messenger from my vista OS pc, I have the error "could not open install.log" everytime I uninstall it.

What I did was to copy the install.log of yahoo messenger from my other laptop with XP OS and placed it in my vista os pc on C:\ProgramFiles\Yahoo\messenger folder.

When I went to Programs and Features to uninstall YM, it worked.

Problem 2: Yahoo is not opening once installed
I really hate Vista!

I have to close all applications and remove all the trash from my browser like IE (delete temporary internet files, cache, cookies and histories), delete the Messenger folder from C:\ProgramFiles\Yahoo. Restart the computer, download YM again and reinstall it.

How to disable checkdisk during startup on Vista OS

CHKDSK is short for check disk. On Windows operating systems, it is used for checking bad sectors or faults on the hard drive. My question is: is it necessary every time I restart my computer? No. This is what I did on one of my client's computer after seeing the chkdsk every time I restart the pc, to my annoyance:

1. Go to Pearl button, type regedit then press the Enter key.
2. Click the arrow before HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
3. Do the same for SYSTEM
4. Then on CurrentControlSet
5. Next on Control
6. Highlight on Session Manager
7. Double click on the name BootExecutive on the right pane
8. Add /k.C before * so it will look like autocheck autochk /k.C*
9. Click OK, then restart your computer

Restore deleted files

Who doesn’t want to restore the accidentally deleted files from your computer? Who doesn’t want to bring back the files on the harddrive after the computer crashed? CD-ROM NOT BURNING

1. Check your optical drive (cd-rom) physically for faults.
2. Run a disk cleaner for optimum use.
3. Check the software used in burning, that might be causing the problem. If that is the case, uninstall it then reinstall the latest version.
4. Are you using a blank cd/dvd? Maybe not. A cd+-r or dvd+-r can be written only once, even if the burning is not finished to the end and/or not successful. Once the cd is used, it's as good as thrash. CD+-RW and DVD+-RW are rewritables. You can use them until 1000th times.
5. Do a system restore if it helps. Anyway, your files will not be affected by this procedure.
6. Try another software, a different one from what you are used to. Download a free software for burning.

If all fails, check the registry:
1. (XP) Go to Start, select Run, type: regedit, OK
(VISTA) Click Pearl button, type: regedit, OK
2. In Registry Editor Window, select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Class
3. Look for the item: {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BCF1-08002BE10318}, highlight this
4. On the right panel, look for LowerFilters and UpperFilters
5. Select individually then delete it from the list
6. Close the entire window, and then restart the pc for changes to take effect.

DELL FACTORY IMAGE RESTORATION

I have post for recovering the computer in factory settings FOR DELL COMPUTERS ONLY with WINDOWS XP operating system. This time, I have for Windows Vista. Make sure you know the administrative name and password.
1. Restart the pc, when you see the Dell logo screen
2. Tap F8 until you see Advanced Boot Options menu
3. Select Repair Your Computer then enter
4. Select Language then Next
5. Type the administrative name and password in the box
6. Select DELL FACTORY IMAGE RESTORE, Next
7. Choose Yes to reformat the HDD into factory defaults, when finish, restart pc
Whatever software you installed on the computer, including all your files will be deleted due to reformatting. I suggest for you to back up your files first before doing the above steps. Although when the pc is reformatted, whatever software that was included when you purchased the computer will be there.

USING RECOVERY FROM HDD

Buying computer nowadays has a separate partition in the HDD for you to use if something happens to your operating system (xp or vista) and it’s pretty easy to access. No need for the original operating system CD to use once you access this. The only disadvantage is if this partition in the HDD was corrupted; you need to use the original CDS to reinstall the operating system again. Make sure to back up your files before doing these steps so you won’t lose any precious information from your computer.

DELL COMPUTERS:
Press CTRL + F11 (XP) to get into DELL PC RESTORE or DELL FACTORY IMAGE RESTORE
1. Select Restore
2. Press Confirm for data deletion and HDD will be formatted to factory settings
3. Finish then restart
For Vista, simply pressing F8 during the Dell logo screen, select Repair your computer, select the username and password, select Dell Fartory Image.

HP COMPUTERS:
Press F11, you get 3 choices for PC RECOVERY
1. R for recovery console
2. F for formatting of the HDD into the original or factory settings, all data will be lost
3. Q for Quit

TOSHIBA COMPUTERS:
Press 0 (zero) then turn the pc off, turn it back on still pressing it down firmly.
When you see the Toshiba logo, start tapping 0 (zero) until you hear the beeping sound.
Then the "HDD RECOVERY MODE" will be displayed, then it will load the Toshiba recovery program.

For windows vista, use system restore outside windows. If it is not accesible, try pc restore or factory image of the HDD. If that wont work, install the OS using the cd. If that dont work, get a new HDD.

"asp.net" user account

this user account when logging into windows will be created once you set the configuration in mcafee about parental controls. even if you did not created this account “asp.net” and it is password protected. the password is the same as the password in parental control in mcafee. this is a security feature of macfee. it isnt a virus, or an alien trying to locate your pc or something.
