CD/DVD drive is not detectable

If the CD drive is not listed from "My Computer", pls click this link first before doing the below steps.
There is a CD that can upgrade your current operating system to a new OS, aside from the usual genuine Windows CD that would cost more than the upgrade version. Unfortunately, there are times that when you upgrade it, suddenly the CD/DVD drive is not recognizable anymore. Going into registry of the computer is very critical coz 1 data entry change will make the computer non-working. Carefully follow the steps below.

I. DELETING UPPER FILTER
1. Click Start, type regedit at Run
2. In Registry Editor, expand My Computer, then expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
3. Expand SYSTEM, then CurrentControlSet
4. Expand Control, then Class
5. Click 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318
6. On the right, click UpperFilters
7. On the Edit Menu, click Delete

II. DELETING LOWER FILTER
1. Perform Steps 1-5 above
6. On the right pane, click LowerFilters
7. On the Edit Menu, click Delete

Exit Registry and restart the computer. This is mandatory for values to take effect.

How to disable checkdisk during startup on Vista OS

CHKDSK is short for check disk. On Windows operating systems, it is used for checking bad sectors or faults on the hard drive. My question is: is it necessary every time I restart my computer? No. This is what I did on one of my client's computer after seeing the chkdsk every time I restart the pc, to my annoyance:

1. Go to Pearl button, type regedit then press the Enter key.
2. Click the arrow before HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
3. Do the same for SYSTEM
4. Then on CurrentControlSet
5. Next on Control
6. Highlight on Session Manager
7. Double click on the name BootExecutive on the right pane
8. Add /k.C before * so it will look like autocheck autochk /k.C*
9. Click OK, then restart your computer

Parallel Operating System in Mac

(I stand corrected with MAC OS Z), read along....
One of my customers asked me questions about his MacBook problem. He told me that he purchased the MacBook 2 years ago, with the operating system of MAC OS X, to which I dunno the exact version (10 point something), anyway it doesn't matter. He then told me that he partitioned the hard drive into 2 so one partition caters the Mac while the other partition is for XP. Every now and then, he needs to restart his computer to switch from one operating system to another, and he don't like it.
I showed him the newer version of MAC OS Z (is this MAC OS X 10.5 Leopard?), which is available in our store so he can probably purchase another MAC. It has the parallel desktop that it can show and run the programs for both Windows XP and MAC OS Z. MAC OS Z, as I explained is capable of displaying and running programs of both Windows and MAC even without restarting the pc (to save time).

Unfortunately, he don't want to purchase the said MAC. He wanted to me to find out if his old pc, MAC OS X MacBook can be upgraded to MAC OS Z so he can enjoy the full functionality of parallel desktop, or does MAC OS X can be used for parallel desktop too just like the OS Z?

The answer is YES for both questions. His MacBook can be upgraded into MAC OS Z, if he likes it, or simply install this software into his MAC OS X (lower version). The software is called "Parallels Desktop for Mac".

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
1. Current MAC OS X is 10.4 (Tiger) or higher running on Intel® Mac
2. 1GB RAM
3. 32 GB disk space (the more the better)

MAC APPLICATIONS

The store manager then asked me “do you know technical things?”
“Yes”, I answered him back.
“Then why can’t you tell the guy what can Mac computers do?” he questioned again.
“The thing the customer is asking is what applications there are in Mac that is different with Windows. I have limited knowledge when it comes to Mac,” I said.
Then he moved out.

As if he I have to know everything. I'm only human. If the customer has time back then, I can look it up on the internet and answer his questions. It’s just that these people are so intense in giving the customer top of the line services when they cannot give it a 100%. Their catalogs are incomplete, the specifications of a computer is incomplete too, and their salesmen don’t know anything about the technical specifications of a device, when in the first place, they should know a little of it, at the least.

That is not the reason I am here. I am here to give justice to an ailing computer, to repair. And not give the technical specifications and what this specific device can do and so on abruptly. It’s like it’s my fault that the customer didn’t purchase the Mac notebook because of me. There are hundred applications! I’m so pissed off with that manager.

For those of you who doesn't know the application a Mac can have, this site is for you. Go and check this link.

HURRAI FOR DELL COMPUTERS!

Buying a computer with no Operating System CD included from the package? No worries. Some manufacturers or even the sellers do not include a CD for reinstalling the OS if there is a problem in the future (though the pc is already loaded with an operating system, ayt!)So how do you go about reinstalling or fixing the computer without the operating system? If you bought a DELL computer, the latest as of today, you’re in good hands. If there is a problem with your OS and you need to repair it, there are 2 ways in doing that: using the recovery partition in the HDD or using the OS CD. Here are the steps in making WINDOWS XP RECOVERY CD.
1. Click START, ALL PROGRAMS, DELL ACCESSORIES, DELL OS RECOVERY CD
2. Say YES for the license agreement
3. Place a blank CD-R on your CD writable ROM, then NEXT
4. When the back-up is finish, it will say CONGRATULATIONS and the ROM will open by itself.
You have now the WINDOWS XP OPERATING SYSTEM BACK UP CD!

USING RECOVERY FROM HDD

Buying computer nowadays has a separate partition in the HDD for you to use if something happens to your operating system (xp or vista) and it’s pretty easy to access. No need for the original operating system CD to use once you access this. The only disadvantage is if this partition in the HDD was corrupted; you need to use the original CDS to reinstall the operating system again. Make sure to back up your files before doing these steps so you won’t lose any precious information from your computer.

DELL COMPUTERS:
Press CTRL + F11 (XP) to get into DELL PC RESTORE or DELL FACTORY IMAGE RESTORE
1. Select Restore
2. Press Confirm for data deletion and HDD will be formatted to factory settings
3. Finish then restart
For Vista, simply pressing F8 during the Dell logo screen, select Repair your computer, select the username and password, select Dell Fartory Image.

HP COMPUTERS:
Press F11, you get 3 choices for PC RECOVERY
1. R for recovery console
2. F for formatting of the HDD into the original or factory settings, all data will be lost
3. Q for Quit

TOSHIBA COMPUTERS:
Press 0 (zero) then turn the pc off, turn it back on still pressing it down firmly.
When you see the Toshiba logo, start tapping 0 (zero) until you hear the beeping sound.
Then the "HDD RECOVERY MODE" will be displayed, then it will load the Toshiba recovery program.

Windows XP peer to peer (P2P) connection

What is a peer to peer connection between computers? It is topology of computers where one computer is connected to each computers on the network, same for computer number 2 and so on. This is necessary for sharing digital signals to and from each computer. It contains no node (like a server) so there are no source or primary computer in this network. All computers are networked equally. How do create a P2P connection? Here’s how:
1. Click START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, NETWORK
2. Click ADD, CLIENT, then ADD
3. In the MANUFACTURERS box, click the appropriate manufacturer, select the appropriate client in the NETWORK CLIENTS box, then OK.
4. Click ADD, PROTOCOL, then ADD.
5. Follow instructions to finish installing the network client and protocol.
When giving the computer a unique name to distinguish one computer from another in this network, do these steps:
1. Click START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, NETWORK
2. In IDENTIFICATION tab, type your desired name (In smaller networks, the name WORKGROUP is more desirable to use so pc can be accessible at all times)
3. OK then restart pc.
Once you’re done with this, configure a peer server. As I’ve said, there is no server or the source of information on this network, but rather, all computers acts like an individual server, after configuring it for File and Transfer Sharing. How? Follow these steps:
1. Click START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, NETWORK
2. Click FILE AND PRINT SHARING, click one or both options, OK twice to exit
3. Restart pc

How to turn off Virtual Memory in XP?

What is a virtual memory? It is like a small part in the harddrive that the computer uses in storing information in a short period of time. These files will never be saved on the HDD, something like virtual memory uses a virtual space…

Do we need virtual memory? Yes. If your RAM is enough for your daily things, adding a virtual memory will increase the performance of your computer. It is like a helpline in time of rough. How to access virtual memory:

Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Perfomance -> Settings -> Advanced -> Virtual Memory -> Change. Turn it off or change the paging file.
