They say it is the same as flashing the BIOS.
On the BIOS Setup, the hard drive (HDD) is not seen or any of its properties. To access BIOS, turn the pc on. Once the PC logo (whether its DELL, ACER, HP, etc.) appears, press F2 for more 5 times or more. Check if the HDD is detected. If not, try to reseat the HDD (reseating is removing the HDD then puting it back). But before doing that, make sure that the AC adapter and the battery of the laptop is removed. If the HDD is still not seen, flash the BIOS. Here is the step:
1. Turn off pc, remove ac adapter and battery (for desktop: remove the power supply cable from the back of the chassis).
2. Press the power button for 2-3 minutes to remove the remaining voltage.
3. On the motherboard, look for the battery that looks like a watch’s battery. Remove for 5 minutes, then put it back. You’re done.
If that doesn’t work, use the jumpers on the mobo (motherboard). Here’s how:
1. Same as the steps #1&2 above.
2.Look for the 3-pin jumper on the mobo (very small). Normally it has markings that corresponds to password reset or password or reset. Take note of the original place of the jumper (usually in pins 2&3), remove the jumper and put into pins 1&2.
3. Turn pc on for like a minute (it will not post) then immediately turn it off.
4. Step #1&2 again, then put the jumper into its original place.
See if it works!
